Appointments

Please ring 8255 1999 for an appointment or book online. Every effort will be made to accommodate your preferred time. Emergencies will always be given priority and our reception staff will attempt to contact you if there is any unforeseen delay or your doctor has been called away. Appointment times are generally 10 minutes but longer consultation times are available and encouraged so please ask our receptionist if you require some extra time.  Appointments are available in the following languages Bengali, Hindi, Urdu and Shona.  If you or a family member require an interpreter service, we can organise this for you, please let us know when you make the appointment.

Appointments that are not attended or cancelled with at less than 2 hours notice will incur a fee. This includes telephone consultations. The Doctors DO NOT prescribe drugs of dependence, S4 or S8 drugs to new patients.

Telephone Consultations

For the safety of our patients we do have telephone consultations available, subject to Medicare guidelines. To be eligible for a bulk billed telephone consultation you must have been seen by one of the Doctors in our practice in the preceding 12 months, hold a valid concession card, be a Veteran Gold Card holder or a child under 12. All other telephone consultations attract a fee. Ask our reception staff to check your eligibility should you require a telephone consultation.

Telephoning your Doctor

GP’s in the practice may be contacted during normal surgery hours. If the GP is with a patient, a message will be taken and the reception staff will advise you when it is likely that the GP will return your call. Your call will always be put through to the GP in an emergency.

Fees

Craigmore Family Practice is a mixed billing practice. Monday to Friday, only Concession card holders, Veteran Gold Card holders and children under 5 will be bulk billed. Appointments booked after 5.30pm incur a higher fee. Weekend consultations are bulk billed for Veteran Gold Card holders and children under 5 only. The accounts must be paid in full with Medicare rebate being paid to the patient within 24 hours (if eligible). These fees are for both face to face and telephone consultations. Please note the surcharges – this will depend on your bank. If booking online our external provider will ask for your payment details in order to secure your booking. This will also incur a surcharge. Walk in or same day “urgent” patients will be charged the private fee regardless of concession status. Missed appointments or appointments that are cancelled with less than 2 hours notice WILL attract a fee.

Procedures such as ear syringing, cryotherapy and skin removals will also attract a fee. Please call our Administration team for any questions regarding fees.

There are some  services that do not attract a Medicare rebate. These services include:

  • Pre-employment medical examinations and reports
  • Commercial driving licence assessments
  • Procedure Room fees
  • Overseas visitors
  • Insurance Forms (Income protection, Life Insurance)

For services that do not attract a Medicare rebate or for those patients who are not eligible please discuss fees with  our admin staff.

Test results

Discussing your results with your Doctor is important. Due to their personal nature, no results will be discussed over the phone unless during a telephone consultation with your Doctor. Patients are requested to make a follow up appointment with their doctor.

Recalls & reminders

Our practice is committed to preventative care. We may issue you with a reminder notice offering you preventative health services appropriate to your care. For procedures such as cervical screening , immunisations health checks and care plans we operate an SMS reminder system for appointments.  Should you not wish to be included in these recall systems, please speak to your Doctor or one of our Nurses.

Home visits

Home visits are available by special arrangement for existing patients who live within 5 km of the practice and whose condition prevents them from attending the surgery.
